Trade Fair demolition: McDan is distorting facts – Raymond Archer

Raymond Archer, CEO of UNIPACK/Colour Planet Limited, has indicated that Daniel McKorley, the CEO of McDan Group of Companies and Board Chairman of Ghana Trade Fair Authority, is just moving from one media house to another just to distort facts regarding how he [Raymond Archer] got a land at the Trade Fair site to build his factory.

In a statement copied to GhanaWeb, Mr Archer whose factory was demolished last Monday dawn said his outfit’s rent agreement with Ghana Trade Fair is governed by the agreement of 2009/2010 on Pavilion Y and “the dubious letters being brandished by the board chairman dating 2012/2014 which relates to an undeveloped plot on Pavilion R.”

The statement explained that two years after the 2010 agreement, Colour Planet Ltd applied for additional space to expand its operations and to build a warehouse and the application was approved by the authorities at the Trade Fair.

“In respect of the Warehouse, the construction of the warehouse delayed from 2014 to 2017 because Trade Fair still had containers on the site. The containers were not removed by Trade Fair until 2017,” he added.

He noted that “In 2017/18, when the new CEO, Dr. Agnes Adu took office, she demanded that Colour Planet pays back rent on the land. Colour Planet explained to her that we have been unable to take possession of the plot allocated to us in 2014 because of containers belonging to one of Trade Fair’s previous tenants. Colour Planet indicated to her that it was not fair to demand back rent from us.”

Devastated Raymond Archer stated that the new CEO insisted that she needed money and even locked his factory on Pavilion Y over a dispute on Pavilion R. “We paid the back rent even though we never got to the warehouse.”
