All is set for a new Season of The Sharks Quiz Competition. The Quiz, which has a broad appeal for junior and high school students focuses on the four key competencies: Literacy, Numeracy, STEM and Social Literacy, will show on TV3 every Saturday from 11am.

Forty five public, private and international schools from across the length and breadth of the country have registered to take part in this year’s competition.

"We are excited about the interest we have received from schools this year," Abel Ohene Acquaye, the Executive Producer The Sharks Quiz mentioned.

“The uniqueness about our competition is that we are heavy on the use of innovation and technology in the Quiz setup; and we focus on how students really understand the practicability of what’s being taught in school and not just rote memorization of facts”.

In just three years, we have created opportunities for students that they may not have had ordinarily. Our candidates are studying in full and partial scholarships in some of the best universities in Ghana, USA, Germany and China. Contestants last year took part in the International Economics Olympiad in Russia, and the International Junior Science Olympiad in Qatar, picking up bronze and silver medals respectively.

The prize at stake this season includes a 40,000 US Dollars presidential scholarship from Academic City College to one outstanding student, cash prize and multimedia sets for winning schools as well as a weekend luxurious treat for the contestants in Accra. An educational sponsored trip to Dubai is in the offing. Again, like in the previous year, selected students will participate in the International Economics, Geography and Junior Science Olympiad.

The Sharks Quiz competition is endorsed by the Ministry of Education through the Ghana Education Service with support from the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences. The head of the Shark Quiz board is Emerita Professor Elizabeth Ardayifio-Schandorf.

Opoku Ware School are Season 2 champions of The Sharks Quiz – Seniors, while Ghana Christian International High are Champions of the Junior Sharks.

Ashesi University, Webster University-Ghana, Family Health Medical School, Academic City College, Indomie Ghana, B5 plus, ELS, LSU Global, Givers Care, Yoks Car Rental, Fortune rice and Frytol are the associate sponsors of The Sharks Quiz.
