PTA spends 80 million cedis on facilities

Agona Swedru (C/R), Sept. 26, GNA - The Parent/Teacher Association of Agona Swedru Secondary School has within the past one year spent nearly 80 million cedis in providing a number of facilities for the school.

They include an electricity generating plant, a 28-seater Mercedes Benz bus and the rehabilitation of staff bungalows. Mr Peter Ekow Adobaw Arthur, Chairman of the PTA, made this known during the school's 40th anniversary and Speech and Prize-giving day celebration on Saturday.

This was after he had conducted Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, the First Lady and guest speaker, round to inspect the facilities. Mr Arthur said the association has plans to implement more self-help projects to improve conditions in the school and called for assistance from old students and philanthropists.

Mr I. K. A. Addison, Secretary to the association, appealed to members to maintain the cordial atmosphere, mutual understanding and co-operation that had characterised the association's deliberations.

Nana Konadu, who is also President of the 31st December Women's Movement, praised the PTA for the good work done and advised members to maintain their team spirit.
