'No amount of intimidation will deter us' - Konadu Agona

Swedru (C/R), Sept. 26, GNA - The First Lady and President of the 31st December Women's Movement (DWM), Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, says no amount of intimidation by opponents of the party will deter the government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from building a better Ghana for all.

She, therefore, advised leaders and followers of other political parties to think seriously of what they can do to help the nation move forward in the next millennium. Nana Konadu was addressing leaders and members of the Movement and some top officials of the NDC at Agona Swedru on Saturday.

She regretted that, in spite of efforts by the government to improve the economy and the living conditions of the people, certain citizens were bent on sowing seeds of discord among the masses.

The First Lady said over the past 18 years, the country has seen a lot of improvement in many fields of national life and this must be recognised. "It is unfortunate that people who should know better have rather closed their eyes to the truth and instead have chosen to hurl insults on the leadership of the nation through the media.

"We are determined to develop the nation and nothing can stop us from making our dreams and vision come true," she said. Mrs Faustina Nelson, National Chairperson of the Veranda Boys and Girls Club, called on NDC activists to intensify their campaign to ensure a landslide vicotry for the party next year.
