IEPA transitional committee inaugurated

An 11-member committee has been inaugurated at a ceremony at the University of Cape Coast to oversee the transition of the Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA) as a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Category II of the Institute.

The inauguration of the Committee follows the approval by the NESCO General Conference on November 2019 as part of meetings for the 40th Session in Paris, France.

The committee is chaired by Prof. John V. Mensah of the School for Development Studies. The members are the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, Prof. Ernest L. Okorley; a representative of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Richie-Mike Wellington; Director of Research Innovation and Consultancy, Prof. Frederick Ato Armah; Dean of the Centre for International Education, Prof. Kwaku Boakye; Dean, Faculty of Educational Foundations, Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson.

The rest is Director of IEPA, Dr. (Bro) Michael Amakyi; Head of Legal Section, Mr. Solomon Faakye Esq; A representative of the National Council for Tertiary Education, Mrs. Sandra Amoah; Director of Human Resource, Rev. Isaac Baafi-Sarbeng and Assistant Registrar, IEPA, Mrs. Alberta Abena Konadu Owusu.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, urged the committee to ensure a smooth transition from IEPA’s current state to the Category II status.

Prof. Ghartey Ampiah commended the Government of Ghana and the Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh for the enormous support they have provided the University to realize this objective. “Government has really rallied behind us right from the onset” he noted. On behalf of members of the Committee, Prof. John Mensah thanked the Vice-Chancellor and Management of the University for the confidence reposed in them. Present at the ceremony were the Registrar, Mr. John Kofi Nyan and a former Director of IEPA, Prof. Rosemary Seiwaa Bosu.
