Krobo indigene honoured by World Masters Committee

The World Masters Committee (W.M.C), a Non- Profit International Cultural Organization based in Seoul, in the Republic of South Korea, has honored Mr. Jonathan Sackitey Quao in recognition of his contribution to the preservation and advancement in artistic and cultural endeavors in Ghana.

A Krobo indigene, Mr. Jonathan Sackitey Quao’s nomination as a World Master was sponsored by the Ghana embassy in the Republic of South Korea which is headed by Her Excellency, Difie Kusi Dedo Agyarko, and the cultural ministry.

A letter notifying Mr. Quao of his nomination read, “The World Masters Committee (W.M.C), a Non- Profit International Cultural Organization based in Seoul, in the Republic of South Korea is excited to notify you of your recent selection as a World Master in recognition of your achievements in the preservation and advancement of your chosen field of artistic and cultural endeavor.”

In recognition of his achievement, the World Master Committee indicated that Mr. Quao has exceeded all the required standards of the Committee for the honor bestowed upon him.

This according to the NGO made him one of the best the institution has honored.

In his speech to grace the event, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, Municipal Chief Executive for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality was highly grateful to the World Masters Committee and Her Excellency, Difie Kusi Dedo Agyarko for recognizing the efforts of Mr. Quao and honoring him in that respect.

He congratulated the 2019 World Master, Mr. Jonathan Sackitey Quao, for his massive and overwhelming contribution to the growth of the Arts Industry in the Municipality and the country at large.

The ceremony which was held in Accra, the capital of Ghana was also attended by the Presiding Member of Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly, Hon. Benjamin Awuley Mensah, Rev. Stephen Amanor Tetteh (Senior Executive Officer), Mr. Stephen Anim Aperko (Municipal Works Department) and Mr. William Apoe who is the Municipal Officer, Center for National Culture.

Since its inception in 2007, the World Masters Committee has honoured 338 World Masters from 76 countries including artists, artisans and performers nominated by ambassadors and diplomats of various foreign embassies in the Republic of Korea with the Ministry of Culture of the home country.

The WMC promotes many festivals and cultural exchange events in the Republic of South Korea and around the world.
