Staff of NAFCO honour their CEO

It is said that prophets are without honour in their own home ,but that did not seem to be the case at the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO).

Recognising the sterling leadership Mr. Hanan Abdul-Wahab ,the Chief Executive Officer provided, staff of the state-owned food security reserve decided to publicly acknowledge the hard work of their boss, which received both local and foreign honours.

The occasion was an end of year corporate dinner in Accra attended by an array of guests including; the company’s Licensed Suppliers, Licensed Buyers, Vendors, some Board Members of NAFCO, the corporate community and some government officials including; the Chief Executive Officer of Macro Small Loans Company (MASLOC), Stephen Amoah and the Chief Director of the Ministry of Education, Mr. B.K Gyasi.

Led by the Head of Operations of NAFCO, Mr. Kofi Amankwah, the staff presented a citation which read in part “Since your assumption of office as the Chief Executive Officer of National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) in 2017, you have provided leadership that has resulted in the rapid turn-around of the company. Your sheer craving for hard work has resulted in recognition and honour from within and outside the boarders of our country.

Your desire to help others is not only legendary, but well and widely acclaimed”.

Mr. Abdul-Wahab was grateful for the honour done him and said he would continue to do his best to make the company of the best performing state entities and that government’s programmes and initiatives will continue to receive priority under his leadership.

“I am humbled by this gesture and I am equally grateful for the support all of you the staff have given me since I assumed office”, he added.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, Mr Abdul-Wahab paid tribute to school heads, Licensed Suppliers and Licensed Buyers as well as the leadership of the Ministries of Education and Food and Agriculture for being worthy partners in the year under review, especially in the successful implementation of the Planting for Food and Jobs and the Free Senior High School programmes.

He said the government under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had lofty ideas capable of putting the country on a sound economic footing, but would require the support of all Ghanaians.



NAFCO and its CEO received number of awards in 2019 for their works and impacts.

They were the “Cocoa Consumption Promotion Organisation of the Year” during the first Ghana Cocoa Awards; Business Development Executive Award during the Northern Ghana Investment Conference held in Tamale; ‘Personality of the Year Award’ by the Ghana Business Awards and , a special recognition award in the agricultural sector and for sustainable food security in Ghana by the African Business Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and the West African Regional Magazine (TWARM) during the 6th Africa – China Business Dialogue in Shanghai, China.
