Birim Central Municipal Assembly awards revenue collectors

The Birim Central Municipal Assembly has held its maiden award ceremony for the Best Performing Revenue Collectors of the year, with Ms Victoria Adjei emerging as the overall best permanent revenue collector.

She took home a citation and a Hisense fridge.

The awardees were permanent and commission revenue collectors.

Mr. Augustine Anim a permanent revenue collector who placed second went home with a citation, gas cooker and a cylinder, Madam Regina Ompong the third placed winner was awarded with a certificate of honour and half piece cloth - GTP brand, while Madam Debora Ohenewaa the best commission revenue collector was given a citation, gas cooker and a cylinder.

Mr. Frimpong Manso Addo the Municipal Finance Officer said, the awards were instituted in 2019 to boost the workers' interest in collecting revenue for the assembly which serves as an Internally Generated Fund (IGF).

He said, in the absence of IGF, the common fund alone could not cater for all development projects in the entire municipality and that the best performing revenue collectors award would be given annually in order to urge them on.

Mr Addo said the target amount for this year's revenue was GHC1,652,049.00, but GHC1,222,842.94 representing 74 percent was achieved.

Speaking on the criteria for the award, he said, the office considered zero revenue embezzlement, update on revenue register, payment and entries of revenue collected into revenue cash book, payment of money to the office within 24 hours and over all audit report.

Madam Victoria Adu, the Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) speaking at the ceremony advised vendors, shop owners, drivers and all to exercise patience in dealing with revenue collectors during operation.

Madam Adjei the overall best permanent revenue collector thanked the entire municipal assembly for instituting the award and said, they would continue to offer good services.
