The 2019 President Cup is underway in Kumasi The 2019 President Cup is underway in Kumasi

It’s the big one. It’s often called ‘Ghana’s El Classico but a more appropriate label for today’s clash will be ‘Kim Grant versus Maxwell Konadu’.

The two technical men will be the focus of the cameras as the two decorated sides take on each other in 2019 President Cup, a game which has been postponed twice.

Bolstered by new arrivals who are hungry to impress fans of each side, the unending debate over which team has got the better kit brand and of course whether Maxwell Konadu will mark his return with a victory over their arch-rivals, this game has the makings of a thriller.

Ghanaian football fans have been starved of football for quite some time and there wouldn’t be a better game to celebrate the return of domestic football than a match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

The match was initially scheduled for the Accra Sports Stadium last week but the venue was changed and the date was postponed due to undisclosed reasons.

Kotoko have a chance to appease their fans after their exit from the CAF Confederation Cup while Hearts of Oak have an opportunity to once again prove that the talk that ‘Baba Yara is our home’ is not a mere rhetoric.

Hearts’ squad for this game came without their skipper Fataw Mohammed and striker Joseph Esso who has been heavily linked with a move abroad.

A pre-match hype has around midfielder Matthew Cudjoe who joined Kotoko during the week.

Called ‘Messi Messi’ there is huge expectation on the youngster to deliver and today will be start.
