The world by a United Nations Convention that came into force in 2005 has observed December 9 in every year as the World Anti-Corruption Day.

The importance of the day amongst other things is to focus on corruption as one of the biggest obstacles to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Africa is ranked the poorest continent in the world and with an established relationship between corruption and poverty, it is by no chance that the continent tops the list.
