Minister expresses concern about deplorable roads

Ntribuoho, (Ash), May 1, GNA - Mr. Emmanuel Asamoa Owusu-Ansah, Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice has expressed deep concern about the deplorable conditions of road networks in the Kwabre West Constituency.

The Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area observed that there were no tarred roads in the newly created constituency apart from a portion of the Kumasi-Offinso road that stretched from Afrancho to Kodie, a distance of about three kilometres. Mr. Owusu-Ansah expressed the concern during a two-day tour of some towns in the constituency at the weekend.

The Deputy Minister observed: "Many roads in the constituency including Afrancho to Ntribuoho, Atimatim through Brofoyedru to Buoho, Kodie to Aboabogya, Bampenase to Wawase and Ankaase to Aboaso are all laterite".

He said the roads have just got the annual reshaping with spot improvement done on them, adding "this is not the best since they deteriorate after two to three months, especially that of Afrancho to Ntribuoho".

He commended the people of Ntribuoho for their communal spirit towards the construction of a one-storey 12-classroom block and a library and donated 50 bags of cement to enable them to continue with the project.

He called on the people in the constituency to initiate more self-help projects so as to attract government assistance and attention. Nana Kofi Mensah, Odikro of Ntribuoho commended President J.A. Kufuor and Parliament for honouring Mr. Owusu-Ansah with a Deputy Ministerial portfolio.

The Odikro urged the MP to work harder to enable him to live up to expectation of the government and his constituents. At Bomso, the Minister urged the people to close their ranks and work hard to develop the area.

Nana Ofori Agyeman, Chief of Bomso expressed the hope that the MP would strive to bring the desired development and progress to the area and assured him of the continuous support and co-operation of the people.
