Kwahu Republic launches Tourism Clubs for Senior High Schools in Kwahu

As part of effort to posit Kwahu as the ultimate destination for holiday lovers, Kwahu Republic, a community tourism development firm with the focus of supporting Kwahu’s development through sustainable tourism, economic, infrastructural and socio-cultural development has formed and launched Tourism Clubs in Seven (7) senior High Schools in Kwahu East District.

The firm which is known for the biggest entertainment show in eastern region known as “Bliss on the Hills” which has been adopted this year as part of the Year of return Activities is creating the enabling platform for students in the Senior High Schools in the Eastern region to be Ambassadors of tourism.

The Tourism Clubs were launched on Thursday, 28th November 2019 for senior high schools within the Kwahu Ridge under the theme “Projecting Tourism Through Culture and Our Environment”. The programme took place at Nkwatia Presby Senior High School in the Kwahu East District. The firm indicated that, the prime objective of the Tourism Clubs is to expose students to the various tourism resources and empower the youth to become tourism ambassadors for the area while developing in them a sense of pride in their traditions and culture.

There were lots of cultural displays and performances from students from the various schools. In all 460 students from Eight (8) Senior High Schools graced the launch including Kwahu Tafo SHS, St Joseph’s Technical Institute, Abetifi Technical Institute, Nkwatia Presby SHS, St Peter’s SHS, Abetifi Vocational Training School, Abetifi Presby SHS and St Dominic’s SHS.

The launch saw in attendance various representative and dignitaries District Director of Education’s Office, Kwahu East, Asst School Heads, The Second Cycle Coordinator for GES – Kwahu East and Nana Addo Ofosu -CPC/CS-DEO of GES.

Mr. Frank Danchie who’s the business manager of Kwahu Republic in his remark promised to inaugurate the tourism clubs for Senior High Schools in Kwahu West, South and Kwahu Afram Plains North and South Districts in 2020.

Nana Baafour Yeboah Asuama I -MawereHene of Kwahu Traditional Area who was the chairman for the launch in his address commended Kwahu Republic for the outstanding initiative. He therefore encouraged all schools within Kwahu to take the club and its activities to the next level for the benefits of all.

Mr. Peter Kyei Boamah an Asst. Business Manager of Kwahu Republic outlined series of the club’s activities during the launch which includes: Seminars, Quiz Competitions, Mentorship Programs, Tourist Attraction Visits, inter school’s tourism engagement programs and Tourism Talk Series. The official slogan for the tourism clubs is “Exploring Beyond Limits”.
