Residents arrest armed robber who shot and killed driver at Ekumfi Ekrowful

Residents of Ekumfi Antseadze and it environs on Sunday morning launched a manhunt and arrested one of the suspected armed robbers who shot and killed Kobina Arhinful a driver at Ekumfi Ekrowful last Friday dawn.

The youth who arrested the suspect said they have not slept since the incident happened and have been combing the bushes around in the night and at dawn where they suspected the robbers were hiding.

While they searched the bushes they saw the suspect running away, they pursued him and succeeded in arresting him.

The suspected armed robber is believed to be a Nigerian and who has been operating with three others believed to be Burkinabes.

According to the suspect the other three have run away and left him after he sustained gunshot in the bush, so he had hiding there until the residents arrested him.

Kasapa FM News Yaw Boagyan reported that residents assaulted the suspect before handing him over to Mankessim Divisional Police Command for investigations.

Meanwhile, some angry residents from Breman Essiam appealed to the police to release the suspect to them to kil him.

The residents also commended two police officers Theophilus Matey Otibo and G/Constable.Kweitey Hassan who spent time with them in the bush throughout the days the operation lasted for their good job.
