Black Meteors Coach Ibrahim Tanko is confident ahead of today’s U23 AFCON opening match against Cameroon.

The match is scheduled to kick off at the Cairo International Stadium at 10 pm (8 pm GMT).

The last time the two sides met was in the 2011 All Africa Games where Ghana beat Cameroon 1-0 and went on to win the competition.

Ahead of tonight’s game, coach Ibrahim Tanko believes his side are ready to scale their first hurdle in the competition.

Ghana is making its debut appearance at the continental gathering and will be eyeing one of the three slots to book qualification to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

“On the pitch, we will do our maximum best to win the game. My team is ready and we are to map up a strategy to help us qualify to the Olympics”

The Black Meteors will face hosts Egypt in the second group match before playing against Mali in the final match of the group stage.
