The Ghana Prison Service has refuted reports making rounds that it is secretly recruiting some persons with the help of the seat of Government.

According to a video being circulated on social media, some top officials are not happy about the ongoing recruitment which is not in tandem with the traditional process. In the video, the alleged recruits who are said to be on a list from the Jubilee House are seen lined up for their turn at the Roman Ridge Prisons Training School here in Accra.

Scores of the recruits according to the secrete recordings reported very early to go through the process early Tuesday. It is not known who shot the video but it is believed to be one of the recruits or an aggrieved Senior Prisons officer worried about the development.

Rumors are rife that they number about 1,500 with as many as 1,430 on the Jubilee House protocol list.

The development comes in the wake of similar concerns about secrete medical screening for recruits at the Police Hospitals.

But the Ghana Prisons Service has confirmed there is an ongoing recruitment exercise, explaining that it’s an open one.

Director of Public Affairs, Courage Atsem in an interview with TV XYZ News that, this is the fourth batch who were shortlisted last year. He added that it is impossible for the Prisons Service to hide any form of recruitment process from the public.

On rumours that some Senior Officers are unhappy about the ongoing exercise, Mr Atsem noted that it is possible anyone disgruntled may not have been able to secure placement for a known person because he or she may have failed the exams.
