Afia Pokua, known popularly as Vim Lady, has recounted how she was committed to her work as a journalist at Multimedia, revealing that at one point she had to leave her dying father on his sickbed in order to go read her bulletin before rushing back to him to bid him farewell.

The gifted newsreader and programme host has joined UTV, a subsidiary of the Despite Group of Companies after 17 years at Multimedia where she rose to become news editor at Adom FM.

Writing on Social Media about her work at Multimedia, Ms Pokua described her 17-year journey as one of her ‘biggest blessings’, adding that she learnt from great people and bad people alike.

“One of my biggest blessings God has ever given me is positioning me at Multimedia Group Limited after my short stint at P &P. For 17 years, I have done my best, even left my father on his dying bed to read my bulletin before running to the hospital to bid him farewell.

I have learnt from great people and taken lessons from my bad experiences. This is the best time to leave and open avenues for others to grow. I’m indebted to all those who helped me on that journey. It’s been fun, tears but a great experience. I hope to learn more on my next chapter. #Lessons #MayGodDirectMySteps,” she wrote.

Ms Pokua is the new host of popular legal education programme, 'Mmara No Se S3n' on UTV, and had her maiden show yesterday to much acclaim.

Afia Pokua, beyond journalism, is a philanthropist who has done a lot to improve basic education in Ghana by building or renovating school blocks, making educational donations among others.
