Verify facts before making public pronouncements - Napo 'warns' preachers

Education Minister, Matthew Opoku Prempeh has cautioned faith-based organisations to fact check their information from official government sources before making utterances on matters arising.

He was reacting to allegations by some religious organisations that the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) expected to be introduced to basic schools in 2020 will have negative influence on the children and society as a whole.

General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Ghana, Rev Dr. Frimpong Manso on Monday, September 30, 2019 described the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) Guidelines to be introduced in public schools by the Ghana Education Service as "satanic".

Labelling the CSE as "Comprehensive Satanic Engagement", the renowned man of God vowed to resist the roll-out of the guidelines with all his strength and power.

In an interview with Kweku Owusu Adjei, host of Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM, the man of God said, “I call this a Comprehensive Satanic Engagement. the LGBT agenda is what has been repackaged, as I know and they should stop it immediately. They should not destroy our children or pupils. They should quickly withdraw it, call for an engagement and let’s talk and see what is in there, other than that it’s a nonstarter”.

In a press conference to refute claims on the alleged Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) the Education Minister said, "We appeal to the general public and faith-based organisations to exercise restraint and verify the facts of official government policy before making public pronouncements".

He assured that the Akufo-Addo government will not compromise the societal values of Ghana in the delivery of quality education.



The Minister, however, stated categorically that, the curriculum framework for Kindergarten 1 to Primary 6 approved by Cabinet for use in schools does not include CSE.

He continued that the over 150,000 teachers trained for the new curriculum were not trained to teach CSE.
