The Assemblyman for Alajo Electoral area, Ismail Hudu Hadman has said the man at the centre of the alleged coup attempt against the presidency, Dr Frederick Yao Mac-Palm has been, until this development, known as a very good man to residents in the area where he managed a hospital.

According to the assemblyman, he was compelled to urge for calm in the area following the arrest of the doctor because of his personality and what himself (the Assembly man) and his electorates know him for.

“I told the people to be patient because the man we know is a good man, relatable, sharing jokes in the area. He has a good character which we all know. He favours a lot of people also.” He revealed.

Speaking to Ghanaweb Tuesday morning, Mr. Hadman said the ammunitions discovered at the Citadel Hospital, allegedly for the purpose of planning at coup, comes as a big surprise.

“It’s a big surprise, because we all know that the premises is a hospital and if you go in there you will see that patients; some of them admitted the nurses are there working on them. It is a general hospital which we all know and is a story building, so if there are some activities going on in the backyard I don’t think those in the main building will know. So it’s clear that we all know that it is a hospital, so it came to us a surprise.”

Mr. Hudu however admonished that the subject be left for authorities to conduct their investigations. He also urged his electorates and the public not to rush into drawing conclusions.

“I will urge each and every one not to rush into making conclusions. We should wait, so that the authorities do their due diligence and investigations”

Residents around the hospital who spoke to Ghanaweb described the medical doctor as a very affable person expressing shock over the issue. They added that they now live in fear considering they have been living in a community where explosives were being kept for the purpose of allegedly overthrowing government.

On Friday September 20, 2019, the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, through a press release announced the arrest of some three persons including Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm.
