The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has incurred the wrath of the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II over recent insulting comments purported to have been made by an executive of the party.

Following the development, MyNewsGh.com has sighted a letter in which Paramount Chief of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area is leading a protest against the leadership of the NDC over the comments that sought to denigrate his person.

The letter signed by State Secretary, D.M Ofori-Atta reads in part” Protest against the national leadership of the National Democratic Congress for the abusive and provocative statements made by Kwame Zu, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress. In view of the heightened public interest, the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council kindly appeal to your outfit to provide the necessary security presence to ensure a successful outcome he event. We wish to assure you that the event will be orderly and peaceful”

Kwame Zu who is the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, last Thursday revealed that the Okyehene competed with animals for water in various unsafe sources until the former President provided water for residents of Kyebi which is the hometown of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Addressing participants of a demonstration by the Coalition for National Sovereignty bemoaning the what he described as increasing hardship and refusal by the government to complete projects at various stages and questioning the commitment of the President in that respect when he has also refused to commission the ultra-modern Kejetia market.

“If this Kejetia edifice had been in Kyebi won’t Akufo-Addo open it for his people to use? What development has he brought to Asanteman…even his own hometown his people were competing for drinking water with animals, John Mahama had to provide potable water for his kinsmen. Until John Mahama provided water for him, Okyehene was drinking with animals”, he said.
