CAFCC: Ashgold pick slim win over RS Berkane in five-goal thriller

Amos Addai’s goal spared the blushes of Ashgold as the Miners threw away a 2-0 lead to clinch a slender win over RS Berkane at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Saturday.

Goals from Eric Donkor, Shafiu Mumuni and Amos Addai handed Ashgold a slender win and puts them in a precarious situation ahead of the second leg against the Moroccan outfit.

Former Asante Kotoko defender Eric Donkor put the home side in front with a cross-shot after 16 minutes.

The crossbar came to the rescue of RS Berkane as Appiah Maccarthy rattled the crossbar with a freekick after 25 minutes.

Skipper Shafiu Mumuni continued from where he left off in the preliminary round as he doubled his side’s lead just before half time.

Ashgold took their feet of the pedal after the break and conceded after just six minutes in the second half with Mohammed Aziz getting the goal for the visitors.

RS Berkane proved that playing in the Confederations Cup finals last season was no fluke as they drew parity after 57 minutes through Mohammed Farehane.

However, the Miners were not prepared to bow out of the game without a shout and Amos Addai restored the lead two minutes after Berkane equalized.

The Miners will have a tall mountain to climb in the second leg after gifting RS Berkane two away goals.
