Chinese ambassador commends Nana Addo over Free SHS policy

The ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Ghana, His Excellency Shi Ting Wang has praised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over his government’s flagship program, Free Senior High School.

According to Mr. Wang, China and Ghana shares in the same belief that investing in education is investing in the future.

“H.E President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo raised the flag of Free SHS and Technical and Vocational Education and Training programme (TVET), which we strongly agree and support,” he said.

Addressing a gathering at a short ceremony held to award 310 Ghanaians students with Chinese government scholarship, Mr. Wang stressed the need to invest in the education of the youth.

He noted, “The Chinese Embassy has been supporting for many years and will continue to support Ghanaian students to study in China”.

He urged the awardees to take advantage of the opportunity to learn the Chinese language and familiarize themselves with the people and the culture.

China through the Chinese Embassy in Ghana has been supporting for many years Ghanaian students in the area of education. In 2018, a total number of 6,475 Ghanaian students were studying in China. Whereas, a number of 1,329 study visa were issued the same year.
