‘Failed’ Normalisation Committee destroying Ghana football – Kojo Yankah

Kojo Yankah, former Executive Committee Member of the Ghana Football Association Kojo Yankah, former Executive Committee Member of the Ghana Football Association

Former executive committee member of the defunct Ghana Football Association, Mr. Kojo Yankah, says contrary to the mandate of the FIFA instituted Normalisation Committee(NC) to reform Ghana football, the committee is rather ruining Ghana football due to the incompetence of its members, ABC News can report.

The former Western Regional Football Association president of the GFA believes the NC has failed to deliver on its mandate to reform Ghana football. The close ally of the former GFA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, is of the view that the committee instituted by FIFA to carry out the supposed cleanup and refine Ghana’s football administration knows nothing about football and therefore cannot carry out any proper reforms.

In responding to the future of the Black Stars and the Normalisation Committee in a radio interview in Kumasi, the outspoken football administrator asserted that the committee is rather destroying Ghana’s football. Mr. Yankah said if the committee members are not forced out of office Ghana football will collapse completely. He is therefore urging them to immediately organise elections so that competent football administrators can come in and manage Ghana football.

“They (NC) are destroying Ghana football, they are collapsing it. They have to pack their things and leave with immediate effect. When they land from Egypt, within two weeks they should organise elections so that they can leave. They have failed abysmally”, a very worried Mr. Yankah explained.

The Normalization Committee (NC) was instituted by FIFA to reform Ghana football following an investigative work carried out by Anas Aremeyaw Anas to uncover rot in the football fraternity in Ghana and the whole of Africa. The investigative journalist’s work uncovered shocking levels of corruption and ethical breaches in the activities of some officials of the GFA. The GFA, with its executive committee, was then dissolved and its president at the time, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi, given a temporal ban – one which was to be later extended to a life ban on all football related activities.
