Inquest into Ghana’s failed AFCON set to begin as Black Stars arrive home

Finder Sports is reliably informed that an inquest into Ghana’s failed 2019 Africa Cup of Nations campaign is set to begin after the Black Stars suffered their worst outing in over a decade in Egypt.

Ghana crashed out of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, after a devastating 5-4 defeat to Tunisia in the Round of 16 stage of the competition last Monday.

Striker Caleb Ekuban missed his penalty kick after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time at the Ismailia sports stadium.

Coach Kwasi Appiah who returned with the team on Thursday morning, is first expected to submit his report of the competition and also answer questions of how law and order allegedly broke down at the team’s camp in Egypt.
After his report, a decision on his future as coach of the time will be made.

Yesterday, fifteen of the twenty-three man playing body returned home with a few key players conspicuously missing from the 23-man squad that went to Egypt.

Notable among those who didn’t return Thomas Partey and Andy Yiadom who reportedly left Cairo for their various clubs.

Upon the team’s arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, the usual camp mood prior to the games at the tournament had always been joyous, with lots of singing and dancing but their return was in stark contrast, with hardly any fuss being made by the players or the staff.
