Paul Adom-Otchere is a bully and unprofessional – Rasheeda Adams

Rasheeda Adams, the convener of the #DropThatChamber demonstration, has accused host of Good Evening Ghana, Paul Adom-Otchere of being a bully, and further stated that his style of journalism is unprofessional.

According to Rasheeda, she appeared on his show last Tuesday because the producer of Good Evening Ghana insisted after she declined his invitation and added that it was too late to find a guest for the show.

“Before the show I told your producer that I didn’t want to make an appearance as the group was yet to make a decision based on new information whether to march or to continue to suspend, and he insisted and said it was too late to find a guest,” she posted on her Facebook timeline.

She added Adom-Otchere antagonized her on his program after being kept in the dead of night for an hour.

“You were clearly trying to put words in my mouth. The message was clear, the march has been suspended for as long as the chamber issue is suspended. How’s that difficult to grasp? I am not afraid of bullies!” the statement read further.



Background

After Parliament released a statement to announce that it had shelved the proposed construction of an estimated $200 million parliamentary chamber, organisers of the #DropThatChamber demonstration decided to suspend their planned protest.

The group’s demonstration was to impress upon parliament to back down on the plan which they said was not a priority.

The convener of the group, Rasheeda Adams, told Accra based Citi FM that Parliament’s statement that the planned construction has been put on hold is not satisfactory.

In a statement later, she said that the planned demonstration by her group had been suspended.

It read thus: “Following the suspension of the Parliamentary enclave project, the #2millionMarch movement will like to inform the general public, that our demonstration slated for Saturday, July 13, 2019, has been suspended.”

She indicated that the movement will continue to monitor the activities of Parliament and will mobilize again to stand against the plan should parliament bring it up again.

“We welcome the suspension with caution and remain vigilant and steadfast in our commitment to demand accountability from our government and leaders. Should Parliament make any attempt to implement this project in the future, at a time citizens deem inappropriate, we shall once again, come together and make a stand against it.”
