Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says he is unperturbed by Foreign Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey’s defamatory suit against him regarding the newly opened Ghana’s Embassy in Oslo, the capital of Norway.

Shirley Ayorkor Botchway has sued the Member of Parliament, Africawatch and one of its editors over a defamatory story published in its magazine, in which she was accused of inflating some over 16 million dollars for the purchase of a building in Oslo, Norway.

The plaintiff who is represented by lawyer Gary Nimako is demanding a sum of twenty million United States dollars against the defendants as compensation for tarnished reputation.

She is also demanding an order of court directed at the defendants to retract the said defamatory publication and render unqualified apology with the same prominence as the defamatory publication.

The Africawatch magazine made this publication in its June edition cover with the caption “Ghana exclusive: the inside story of the Oslo scandal conspiracy to steal, Ayokor Botchwey’s lies exposed, Nana Akufo-Addo’s defense falls flat”.

This publication, according to the plaintiff intends to tarnish her hard-won reputation, the reason she has decided to sue the Africawatch magazine and its editor for defamation.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, in an interview said he hasn’t been served and he is “not in any way scared or worried about the development” adding that he only carried out his side duties without malice.

He added that Ghanaians should rather commend him for making such disclosure instead of making an attempt to vilify him.

He says his lawyers will respond at the appropriate time when served.
