Accra, Feb. 21, GNA - Ghana and Denmark on Monday renewed their commitment to a five-year project for three districts in the Eastern, Volta and Greater Accra regions when the Danish Ambassador to Ghana Mr Fleming Bjork Pederson paid a courtesy call on the new Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyemang in Accra.
The project started last year under a Danish grant of 60 million dollars.
Part of the fund would go to the Water Resources Commission, Ministry of Works and Housing for the establishment of a Water Directorate and School of Hygiene Education Support.
Mr Bjork said the designs for the construction of the physical structures for the a water project involving the Dangme West, Dangme East in the Greater Accra Region and the North Tongu District in the Volta Region were at the tender stage.
The project, which is part of Phase II of the Danish Government-assisted Water Sector Programme Support, involves the supply of potable water to some selected districts in the Volta, Eastern, Greater Accra and Central Regions.
Mr Owusu-Agyeman assured the Danish Ambassador that the funds would be used in a prudent and transparent manner.
