Special Ice Boss crowned 2019 EMY’s Ultimate Man of the Year

CEO of Special Ice Company, Dr Ernest Ofori Sarpong was crowned with the highest award at this year’s Exclusive Men of the Year (EMY) Awards, winning the 2019 Ultimate Man of the Year accolade on Saturday at the plush Kempinski Hotel in Accra.

The EMY’s Ultimate Man of the Year award is the flagship award accorded to a man who has had great impact on society, is a change exponent, responsible, many other things as well as mentorship, innovation and a visible team worker doubling as a certified man regarded by the Ghanaian community.

Dr Sarpong was accorded the award for his outstanding performance under the year of review. As a Ghanaian businessman, he was found worthy of the award by the EMY board of patrons as the sole Ghanaian who distinguished himself immensely in the field of real estate, entrepreneurship, mining, manufacturing, media and finance.

Granting a speech after receiving the award from Nana Adwoa Awindor, Dr Sarpong expressed his excitement about the win and further hailed his family and Ghanaians for walking the journey with him.

He said, “I feel excited and honored for winning this award as I join other recipients of the award. Growing up as a man in the 80’s, I never thought I would ever stand before a crowd full of important people to receive such an award, I’m grateful to God for bringing me this far.”
“There’s a saying that no man is an Island and I believe that no successful man did it by himself. I’m successful today through the support of my family, my staff, my friends and Ghanaians who patronize my products,” the co-founder of United 2 Company Limited added.

The EMY Africa Awards is an annual Father’s Day-related event that celebrates personalities who have contributed their quota to change, progress and continue to be symbols of stability and role models in the community.

Other winners on the night included, the Chief Imam Dr Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu who was crowned with a Life Time Achievement award, as the Veteran Administration of Ghana was honoured with the Men’s Group of the Year award, the Man of Courage award also went to visually impaired journalist, Paul Anomhah Kordien and the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Ian Walker who annexed the inaugural EMY’s Commonwealth Development award.

The outstanding Woman of the Year went to Madam Patricia Poku, the CEO of Plot Enterprise Group in Ivory Coast and Ghana which is a cocoa processing company.
