Terror threats: Heavy security presence at CK Tedam’s funeral in Paga

Following recent threats of terror attacks in Ghana, there is heavy security presence in the border town of Paga in the Upper East Region where the burial ceremony of late Chairman of Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party C. K. Tedam is currently underway.

The state burial ceremony is being attended by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahmudu Bawumia, Speaker of Parliament Prof. Mike Oquaye, Ministers of state and National Executives of the governing party. Also in attendance is the Inspector General of Police David Asante-Apeatu and the Chief of Defence staff.

Hundreds of military, police and national security personnel have flooded the township and ceremony grounds obviously in a bid to ward off any possible attack and security mishaps.

A team of military personnel conduct intensive body and luggage search of all persons that enter the event yard while uniformed security men are spotted covering almost every space among the crowd.

The body of the late C. K. Tedam was flown into the Region via a military chopper on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 ahead of the final burial today.

The late Chairman of the Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) died on April 25, 2019, at his home in Accra after a short illness.

M. C.K Tedem who is a founding member of the NPP and former Council of State Member died in his sleep at his home in Accra on Thursday night, this portal gathered.
