Morgan International graduates third batch of International Baccalaureate students

The Morgan International Community School (MICS) located at Gomoa Manso in the Central Region has graduated its third batch of International Baccalaureate (IB2) Diploma Programme students at a colourful ceremony held at the school campus in Gomoa Manso on Saturday, June 8, 2019.

The ceremony witnessed the graduation of nineteen (19) students who were awarded the International Baccalaureate Diploma 2. It also coincided with the school’s 6th awards ceremony which saw some deserving students, hardworking teachers and staff rewarded.

The auspicious event was graced by some distinguished guests made up of politicians, government appointees, chiefs and traditional leaders from the Gomoa Manso community, friends, families, students and the alumni of the school. Notable among the guests include the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Nana Eyiah Quansah (Guest Speaker) and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Education Winneba, Reverend Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni(Chairman).

Delivering her welcome address, the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Nana Eyiah Quansah appealed to parents and guardians to help equip their wards with entrepreneurial skills in addition to an academic background in order to prepare them ahead for a brighter future.

According to her, helping children develop entrepreneurial skills in addition to their academic background does not only guarantee them a better future open them as well to diverse job avenues towards the attainment of financial freedom.

On his part, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Education Winneba, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni (chairman of the occasion), charged the graduands to become the catalyst who would help change the world no matter where they find themselves.

“I know that you are going to be the ones who will come out to change the world not just by words but by actions and through entrepreneurship. It is my prayer that you don’t join the unemployed graduate association of Ghana but end up becoming entrepreneurial-minded people and that you are going to create wealth, create employment and create the future for ourselves”.

In his remark, Founder of MICS, Mr. Obed Danquah commended parents, guardians and shareholders of the school for their unflinching support which has kept the school on its sound feet over the years. While invoking the blessings of God upon them for the gesture, he revealed that the school will soon stand on its feet without the support from its shareholders (parent, teachers and others), adding, “because if you look at the balance sheet, the growth of the school is actually running so fast to a point that very soon it will not need the support of shareholders”.

Advising the students, Mr Obed Danquah who also doubles as the founder and Head Pastor of the Enriching Lives Ministry said, “Whatever you achieve, pass it unto the society, and let it benefit from you because if you achieve anything else and the society does not benefit, it then becomes waste”.

6th Awards

The awards which are the 6th edition in the history of school came in different categories which saw worthy students cum hardworking staff, teachers, administrators and ancillary workers of the school honoured with various awards. Under the top awards category for the year, Selma Ewurama Adams has adjudged the best graduating student (IB2) while Ashley Mahrer picked up the overall best student of the year (IB1).

For the primary level, Fiona Bagnah-Gamon was also named the overall best student of the year. The overall best teacher award for the year was conferred on Bright Andoh while Marian Akobanyam was declared the best ancillary staff of the year. The best administrative staff of the year went to Mary-ann Sowah and Yaa Boatemaaamoah-Kpentey respectively.
