Some aggrieved traders at the Kumasi Markets who constantly travel to Aflao for transactions have threatened to embark on a naked demonstration in protest of alleged harassment and extortion from the Aflao Border Security.

According to the aggrieved traders, several petitions against an alleged dubious activities have been issued to various authorities but to no avail.

They have also accused the commander of frustrating them out of business, adding that nothing has been done about the situation believing that the authorities together with the commander are the ones engaging in these corrupt activities.

Some of the traders who narrated their ordeal to peacefmonline.com said the officials can seize their goods and ask them to pay huge sums of money before the goods can be released to them.

“Look these are no big goods...so for you to tell me, a poor woman, to pay a penalty of thousands of Ghana Cedis and at the same time pay for duty, is too harsh”, a trader said amid sobs.

Some party activists who spoke to the issue were bitterly disappointed by the results, accusing the NDC hirelings who are still in some top positions in customs of running a smear campaign against the Akufo-Addo led government.

“We Will go naked on the streets if government does not intervene on our predicament...we have contracted loans from the banks to do businesses, if we continue to pay huge sums of money to them, how can we repay the loans,” the traders angrily said.

The traders are thus asking the government to intervene and ensure that business activities at the border become less costly and convenient.
