About 2,306 Candidates Set to Write BECE in Jomoro

A total of 2,306 registered candidates are expected to write this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Jomoro municipality.

Out of the number, 1,183 are boys and 1,124 are girls.

A total of public school candidates are 1,491 out of which 767 are boys and 724 are girls while private school candidates are 815 out of which 415 are boys and 400 are girls.

The Jomoro Municipal Director of Education, Mr. George Effah told GNA in an interview that no pregnancy had so far been recorded.

He said all was set for the writing of the BECE in the area, adding that his outfit had advised prospective candidates to desist from all sorts of examination malpractices and encouraged them to learn seriously to enable them pass and access the free Senior High School.

Mr. Effah encouraged parents and guardians to attach more importance and due diligence to their wards' education.

The Director appealed to the candidates to remain focused and avoid dubious means of passing an examination as it has the potential to jeopardize their future.

Mr. Effah admitted that with a Mock examination sponsored by the MP for Jomoro, Mr. Paul Essien, the candidates, must keep their fingers crossed to come out with flying colours.

The Director also lauded the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Ernest Kwofie for sponsoring the seasonal examiners in Jomoro for the briefings and orientation of all 2019 BECE candidates on how to answer examination questions as well as the do's and don't's in the examination.

The examination coordinator for Jomoro Mr. George Yakom added that stringent measures have been put in place to ensure that all 2019 BECE invigilators and supervisors have been taken through briefings and are adequately prepared.

He, however, cautioned all and sundry to desist from acts that may lure candidates not to focus on the prime motive of the examinations.

On security, he said nine police officers have been deployed to the various centers to maintain law and order.
