Ghana to launch first ever International Coconut Festival in June

The biggest Coconut Festival is scheduled to take place in Ghana from 24th to 26th September 2019 at the Accra International Conference Centre under the theme: Promoting Export Diversification through a Robust Ghanaian Coconut Industry.

The International Coconut Festival - Ghana promises to be the largest and captivating festival ever organized in Ghana and the sub-region. This festival will bring together divergent and towering coconut industry players from across the globe, inter alia; Canada, China and South East Asia, Africa and the Middle East to Ghana. It will potentially create a big traffic a big bang with a dossier of investors, coconut researchers and scientist expected to throng Ghana for the maiden event.

The launch comes off at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on the 18th of June at 10 am prompt.

The goal of this most-anticipated event is to provide a platform to connect and serve the Ghanaian community and other international participants through the development and promotion of coconut. The festivals will primarily showcase the various features of the coconut tree from the root to its leaves.

The event is which being organized by the African Coconut Group in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, the Ministry of Tourism Art and Culture, and PERD is also supported by Ghana Freezones Authority, Ghana Export Promotion Promotion Authority, GIPC , Coconut Federation and the AMG Group Limited.

The objectives of the festival include the following;

First B2B Coconut Forum

Exhibition from innovative companies and suppliers showcasing their recent products and services.

Building direct Trade between partners from North America, China, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Enhancing Agri-Tourism from different Tour Operators from the world.

Forum for progressive speakers and researchers discussing relevant topics on coconut development and promotion.

Interestingly, the Canada Coconut Festival and Superfoods Expo; a major foreign partner and kingpin in the maiden edition of the first International Coconut Festival - Ghana have redirected a decade-old-annual-event in Canada this year in order to move their entire crew, investors, researchers and scientist to Ghana to organize a mammoth event with us.

Essentially, this festival is going to cause a momentous international movement by moving the world to Ghana and publishing the coconut sector of Ghana to the entire world.

Why International Coconut Festival - Ghana?



It would be recalled that, the President of the Republic of Ghana; HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Minister of Food and agriculture, Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Hajia Alima Mahama, launched the Planting for Export and Rural Development Program (PERD) on 24th April, 2019 at Dunkwa On-Offing, Central Region. The PERD programme has Coconut as one of the six tree crops the Ministry of Agric is promoting.

Subsequently, under the Business Support unit of the Strategic pillars of PERD, the Africa Coconut Group as a Private Sector entity engaged PERD to organize the First International Coconut Festival in Ghana and to use this platform to promote and link up all local players to gain access to the international market. This event will serve as a big step to facilitate the promotion and development of coconut under the PERD programme.

Activities to mark the Coconut Festival:

The festival would be marked with a number of activities including but not limited to:

Trade and exhibition activities

Seminars and Mentorship of University Students to take advantage of the PERD Programme

Economic and technical negotiation activities Friendship City networking activities and Universities Sister Networking Ghana folklore, celebrations and cultural performances

Coconut farm visit

Tree Planting by the Minister of Tourism, The Minister of Agric and the Mayor of AMA at the Beach, and followed with a Coconut Beach Jams.

Invitation to participate in Award winning Activities

Special invitation will be given to all talented young and old to participate in the following activities to win various prices including smart phones, Plaques, Certificates etc. 1.
