The Bono Public Policy Institute, (BPPI), a social and economic research institute, has commended Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the First Lady for her role in promoting and helping to improve the needs of women and children.

Since her assumption, the BPPI observed that, the First Lady had championed and continued to galvanised support to care for the education, social and health needs the voiceless.

Mr Adu Koranteng, the Executive Director of BPPI, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, recalled that Mrs Akufo-Addo worked with other partners to work on the Korle-Bu Pediatric and Intensive Care Unit and the Komfo Anokye Mother and Baby unit which saved lives.

Recently, he said, the First Lady, initiated a project called “Learning to Read, Reading to Learn,” aimed at inculcating the culture of reading in children in support of efforts to build a highly literate society.

“The First Lady has supported the renovation and equipping of the Braille Production Centre which has brought an end to the usual delays in the supply of braille textbooks and other learning materials for the visually impaired.”
