Striker Songne Yacouba has returned to training with Asante Kotoko after a close to two-month injury lay-off.

The Burkinabe international finally joined his teammates at the Adako Jachie training centre on Thursday as the Porcupine Warriors prepare for their next match in the ongoing Normalization Special Cup.

Yacouba, who last featured for CK Akonnor’s side against Al-Hilal at home in the 2018/19 Caf Confederation Cup told Kotoko Express:

“I am happy to be back though I still feel pain in my ankle.

“But, I will continue to work hard and see if I can return to full fitness soon.”

The 27-year-old’s future at the club has been a subject of intense speculations throughout his absence especially after expressing his desire for greener pastures in the summer.

South African giants Orlando Pirates and ZESCO United of Zambia have officially approached Asante Kotoko about Yacouba’s availability with other interests said to be expressed by some Egyptian clubs.

Songne Yacouba is eyeing a potential return to action in Asante Kotoko’s second meeting with Bechem United in the Normalization Special Cup. The Porcupines host the encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday, May 8.
