Evangelical Lutheran Church hold Easter fun games

The Lutheran Media Ministry, Ghana, a nongovernmental organisation in collaboration with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana has organised fun games for members of the church as part of the celebration of the Church’s 60th anniversary.

The games dubbed: “60th Anniversary Easter Fun Games”, was also to enable members of the church celebrate the Easter festivity by socialising with other congregants of the church from different branches within the country.

The activities for the fun games were 100-metre racing, 50-metre walking, musical chairs, football, sack race, lime and spoon, eating competition, penalty kicks for women and men, draw your sword, ludo and card games.

Participants of the competition including members of St Pauls, St Peters and Trinity Lutheran Churches received awards such as trophies; gold, silver and bronze medals and certificates for participating.

Mr Ekow Coleman, the Board Chairman of the Ministry in his welcome address, said the exercise was not just to keep participants fit, but was a way to mobilise hundreds of people including non-members of the Church to preach the gospel to them.

He expressed gratitude to the two organising institutions for the unflinching support and collaboration in making their vision of ‘Bringing Christ to the Nations and the Nations to the Church,” a success.

Mr Nicholas Sarkodee-Adoo, the Country Manager of the Ministry, said among the major programmes that made the Ministry and the Church achieve their vision was the Gospel based radio programmes, bible correspondence course, equipping to share evangelism, and rural evangelism.

Others, he said, were campus ministry or evangelism for educational institutions, medical outreaches, soup kitchen where they cook and dine at communities with members of the communities and use the platform to evangelise to them, letter-by-letter reading clinic and sports ministry.

He said a major challenge for the Ministry was how to raise funds locally, adding that, it needed to develop a base of sponsors locally to donate and support the Ministry.

“…In today’s volatile climate, organisations need to continually reassess their ability to generate funding, adapting current strategies and introducing new income streams as much as possible,” he said.

Mr Sarkodee-Adoo urged other congregations, preaching stations, pastors, and the public to support the Ministry in its quest to propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ to the public.
