Samson Anyenini and his able panelists on this weekend’s edition of Newsfile on Joynews brought to bear the crux of pertinent issues which made the headlines within the week.

The issue of flood was once again tabled for discussion as two soldiers, Warrant Officer Jabez Arthur, 45, and his wife Warrant Oficer II Sarah Kuadzi, 40, died in floods at Adjei Kojo as they drove through the rains in a military pick-up.

Away from that, the Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Maafo's comment about government’s discontinuation of prosecution of 'galamsey queen' Aisha Huang took centre stage. Addressing a townhall meeting in the United States recently, the Senior Minister said: “Putting that lady [Aisha] in jail in Ghana is not going to solve your economic problems”

The unending controversy over the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) indebtedness was also discussed.

The NDC insists the NHIS is in a deplorable state and gasping for liquidity breath and that currently, it owed service providers in all the 16 regions of Ghana claims covering a period of almost 12 months and that had landed most healthcare facilities in distress.

Still on politics, the Accra High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and Anthony Kwaku Boahen, Chairman and Deputy Communication Director of the opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC) respectively.

Ampofo and Boahen were each granted bail in the sum of Gh¢100,000 with one surety after they pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to cause harm and assault on a public officer.
