Fire raises down over 50 shops at Madina market in Accra

Over fifty shops at the Madina Shopping Centre located within the La-Nkwantanan district of the Greater Accra region have been raised down by fire.

The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, April 8, 2019.

Narrating the incident, the La-Nkwantanan Municipal director of the National Disaster Management Organisation, Mr Foster Atta told Hot 93.9FM’s news reporter Ernestina Mawufemor Afake that:

“The fire started around 1 am and has destroyed several properties worth thousands of Cedis..some of the properties include about 20 milling shops, dressmaking shops, and cold stores”.He told Hot 93.9FM

“But the cause of the fire is currently not known...we are now going to commence an investigation into the tragic matter and findings will be made available quickly after and the necessary assistance would be given to those affected".He further said.

Mr.Attah urged all store owners to have fire extinguishers in their respective shops in order to prevent future occurrence.
