A total of Forty –Three (43) Human Resource Practitioners including organizations were honoured at the 2nd Ghana human Resource Innovation Awards (GHRIA) 2019.
The event which took place at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel recognized organizations with excellent HR practices and models as well as leading practitioners, who have demonstrated excellence & Innovation in the HR Profession.

Now in the second year, GHRIA 2019 which was on the theme ‘Celebrating excellence in the HR industry’ is an annual celebration of leading Human Resource Practitioners and Organizations with topnotch HR models who have made sterling contributions to the corporate sector over the years.

In all, thirteen organizations participated in the awards ceremony and these include; Melcom Group, Goldfields Ghana, Guinness Ghana, Barclays Bank, ECG, VRA, MTN Ghana, Broll Ghana, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Enterprise Group, Ghana Exim Bank, SSNIT and DVLA.

Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission,Dr. Edward Kwapong who spoke on behalf of the Minister of Labour and Employment Relations, Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah said the wealth of a nation in any organization or institution lies in the quality of its Human Resources and how well these resources are managed.

“Importance of the work done by those whose responsibility it is to manage these resources cannot be overlooked, it is in line with this that I take the opportunity to commend the Organizers of this event, Instinctwave for providing the platform to recognize and reward hardworking Human Resource experts and professionals for their efforts and contribution to the employment and labour sector of this country”.
According to Dr.Kwapong, unemployment is a national security issue and as a result government has embarked on an aggressive developmental agenda for job creation as its main focus. He noted that, this is contained in the coordinated programme of social and economic development policies 2017-2024 and actualized with the numerous ongoing government initiative most of which is by popular catch phrase; “Free SHS,One District –one factory, one –village-one dam, Nation Builders Corp (NaBco)”among others.

“To achieve the Nana Akufo-Addo vision of Ghana beyond aid, quality human resource are a key and essential requirement. The responsibility of development rest on all players in the society and not just government”.

He reiterated that as a Ministry mandated to oversee and manage employment and labour issues of the country, the creation of decent jobs and welfare of workers is of utmost importance to the Ministry of employment and Labour Relations.

Mr. Akin Naphtal, CEO of InstinctWave, organisers of the event, in his opening address said the impact of HR leaders are rarely celebrated or recognized which is why Instinctwave has created the platform to reward the efforts and hard work of HR Practitioners and organizations.
