There are some university lecturers in the country whose Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degrees are fake because of the questionable process through which they were acquired and must be revoked with the claimants arrested by the police for holding themselves as such, MyNewsGh.com reports.

Political Science Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Kwesi Amakye Boateng who dropped the bombshell, observed that these lecturers have little or no knowledge in the courses they teach yet call themselves holders of doctorate degrees.

“I have seen some lecturers using fake certificates. Fake certificates not because they were forged, but these were certificates acquired through the toil of others they are now using to teach and have no knowledge on what are is teaching. I once interacted with one of such lecturers in a university I am not prepared to name and realized he had little or no knowledge on what he lectures”, he made the shocking disclosure to Kwame Adinkra on Pure Fm in Kumasi.

According to the Political Scientist, his third-year political science student is far better and in-depth in terms of knowledge than the said lecturer who he said is claiming to have received his PhD from the USA where the process is vigorous.

“Those who have acquired their PhDs in the USA are very good because the process there is vigorous. Listen to someone like Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom and Gyima Boadi and you will understand so if such a person comes and makes claims he is a PhD holder from a university in the USA and cannot deliver it leaves much to be desired”, he stated on the show dubbed Pure Morning Drive

A recent audit of the technical universities conducted by the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) revealed some discrepancies in the qualifications of some university lecturers in the country.

Some of them it is gathered had been teaching without relevant background, with some holding Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees acquired through online, which is against the regulations of the NCTE.
