Is the Presidency a retirement benefit for 75-year-olds? – KSM quizzes

Celebrated comedian, Kweku Sintim-Misa known popularly as KSM has questioned the logic of having a President who is seventy five years but expects civil servants and other people occupying top positions in organizations to retire at age sixty five.

There were reports that government had asked some Chief Executive Officers to retire because of their ages.

However, government has debunked the reports.

The Information Minister speaking to the media said “Government has not written to any CEO to retire…it’s not true. We need to be cautious in our reportage. There’s no such direction to these CEOs. It is only one person who has been engaged in such matters. These are senior members so it will not be surprising for anyone to come out with such stories but as at this morning; no such order has been given”.

But KSM in a tweet questioned why a President whose has passed the retirement age expects others to retire when he’s still active in service.

He quizzed whether the Presidency is a retirement benefit.

“So, u want me to retire @ 65 years cos I am too old to work. Yet I can run for President at 75. What is the logic? Is being President a retirement benefit.”
