Haruna Mahama, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Gonjaland Association (GLYA) has resigned from his position with immediate effect citing betrayal on the part of the current crop of executives, MyNewsGh.com has filed.

In a letter posted on his Facebook page and copied to the executives of the association, an overly outspoken voice in the Gonja area and devout supporter of former President John Dramani Mahama, wondered why they failed to stand by him over a fake post on social media attributed to him when even he had explained to them.

According to him, their conduct is absurd and amounts to breach of trust considering how he has served the association with vigor for the past six years only to be nailed for a fake social media post that is not his.

RESIGNATION AS PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER OF THE GONJALAND YOUTH ASSOCIATION

This is to inform you that I have from today resigned as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Gonjaland Youth Association (GLYA).

This follows a disclaimer from the leadership of the GLYA on a screenshot circulating on social media and purporting to come from me.

First of all I sincerely think the leadership of the GLYA should have discussed the issue with me before their disclaimer.

Secondly an Executive board meeting or an Emergency Central Committee meeting should have been convened for the issue to be discussed in accordance to the constitution of the GLYA instead of the knee jerk disclaimer that I sincerely think is not in tandem with the Constitution the GLYA.

Before the disclaimer from the GLYA I had already issued my own disclaimer stating that the screenshot purporting to come from me was fake and is clearly the handiwork of some mischievous people.

Based on my explanation, the GLYA should have stood by me with their disclaimer reflecting the fact that the post circulating on social media is fake.

I have diligently served as PRO of the GLYA for six years and for the leadership of the Association to nail me for a social media post not emanating from me is surprising, absurd and a breach of trust.

In this regard I have duly resigned as PRO of the Gonjaland Youth Association.

I thank the President of the GLYA for his support all these years and also thank the entire membership of the GLYA especially the branches across Ghana for the confidence reposed in me culminating in my winning two consecutive elections, that is, 2013 at Bole and 2016 at Kpembe.

I will continue to serve my people in a different capacity.

Yours faithfully;

Signed….

Mahama Haruna

(Former PRO GLYA)
