Amass Ghana calls for international concern on conflicts in Northern Ghana

Conflict resolution and peace building Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Amass Ghana, has lamented on the increasing trend of inter-tribal impasse that has claimed many lives for the last two decades in Northern Ghana.

Citing the conflicts between the Nanum's and Kokomba's and other ethnic groups in the North, Amass stated in a release that, such chaos led to economic and societal setbacks in the communities.

Hence, "World Justice Project (WJP), Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), Niwano Peace Foundation (NPF) among other peace building bodies would need to stretch an arm in helping Ghana nip in the bud the conflict situation in northern part of the country."

Amass Ghana Calls For International Concern on Conflicts in Northern Ghana

North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) Chief, Jens Stoltenberg, has in the last few days stated that the world is becoming more dangerous and we would need more international co-operation.

We at Amass Ghana, conflict resolution and peace building based non-governmental organisation (NGO), would join the reins with NATO on that global platform for international co-operation.

The diplomatic impasse between the West and Middle East keeps raising eye brows by the day - the United States (US) and her allies are blaming Russia and Iran for sponsoring arms to fuel the civil war in Syria, US and Saudi Arabia have formed a coalition for the war in Yemmen while that of US and North Korea remains another crucial example.

Nationally, in northern Ghana, increasing trend of inter-tribal impasse has claimed many lives for the last two decades.

In Bimbilla, Nanum's and Kokomba's have been at one another's throat, a situation that pulls strings for Amass Ghana to resort to adhoc conflict resolutions in the past few years.

The conflict between Abudu and Andani gates in Dagbon in the same northern Ghana over the successor to the late Overlord, Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani II, has also been on-and-off hotbed.

It has taken the intervention of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and his team of eminent chiefs and other peace building stakeholders to broker peace for the two gates.

However, even when Konkombas and Chokosis renewed conflict has not been settled yet, Abudus and Andanis revisit their conflict skins leading to the demise of one person who left behind three children and two pregnant wives.

Statistics has it that conflict erupted since 1994 between the Konkombas and Chokosis that has wieldered negative impact in the two factions, claiming hundreds of lives daily. And this has the tendency of causing economic and societal setbacks in the communities.

Amass Ghana, with great concerns, wishes to bring to national and international mettle, the dire consequences these conflicts ply on public and private assets and national security.

Indeed, Ghana needs international co-operation for the creeping insurgency.
