Spintex Road to be closed to traffic for GWCL works

Stanley Martey, Head of Communications at GWCL Stanley Martey, Head of Communications at GWCL

The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has said parts of the Spintex Road will be closed to traffic to enable its engineers to interconnect pipelines to improve water supply to Teshie, Manet Cottage and surrounding areas.

The Director of Communication of GWCL, Mr Stanley Martey, has, thus, asked commuters and motorists to use detours to avoid accidents.

He said: “The Ghana Water Company Limited is planning to lay some pipelines to connect the main transmission line on the motorway”, adding that it will “cross the Spintex Road into Teshie, the northern part of Teshie, especially Agblezaa and Manet Cottage, and this will be done close to the Frimps Filling Station close to the Manet Junction on the Spintex Road and, so, the road will be blocked but we’ll be doing it on the evening of Friday [today, 11 January 2019] from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and then on the evening of Saturday from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., so, we’re cautioning motorists and commuters of the Spintex Road to be cautious while driving.

“Now, there’ll be diversionary signs. We’re cautioning the general public that they should heed the diversionary signs and then drive carefully when they get to the Manet Junction area so that we wouldn’t have any eventuality”, Mr Martey told the media.
