It takes time to gather strong evidence to fight corrupt people; have patience - Kamal-Deen

Former Nasara Coordinator of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kamal-deen Abdallah has assured Ghanaians of the commitment of President Akufo-Addo towards the fight against corruption.

The NPP communicator told Kwabena Agyapong, host of Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM that the commitment to fight corruption is still in force hence the need for Ghanaians to trust in the NPP to deal with corruption cases.

Criminal cases in Ghana including corruption he said thrives on evidence and without evidence, you cannot prosecute people.

When asked why the NPP thrived on the fight against corruption and yet failing to deal with same, he said, the government cannot waste time by sending people to court without strong evidence.

The NPP has a mandate to deal with people who may have done things against the state, he said.

Kamal-deen Abdallah said due process of the law is as a good as substantive law.

He also indicated that the ongoing prosecution of Dr. Opuni and others shows that the NPP is poised and ready to fight corruption.

He cited the example of the office of the special prosecutor and the strengthening of the procurement law as instruments to help fight corruption.

Institutions of state he added are working due to the commitment of President Akufo-Addo to deal with corrupt people including his own appointees who may be cited for corruption.

Meanwhile, he has described the two years of President Akufo-Addo as a great one following the implementation of flagship education policy, the free senior high school, the planting for food and jobs which he suggested helped the country produce more including maize and cassava.

"Ghana was importing cassava from Ivory Coast but due to the planting for food and jobs, we did not import cassava and a single grain of maize last year.

Ghanaians he noted see the Nana Addo led administration as an incorruptible government, dedicated, committed and with the best brains managing the economy of Ghana, which was nearly crashed under the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He concluded by suggesting that ”only wicked people will make claims that the NPP is not fighting corruption”.
