Goals Foundation empowers youth in Resolution Summit

The Goals Foundation, a youth development Ministry has organised a youth resolutions summit to enlighten and empower the youth to become responsible and active citizens that would contribute to national development.

The summit was organised by the Goals Foundation in partnership with the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Mamprobi and aimed at mentoring the youth with biblical teachings to enable them to live Godly lives as they contribute to national development.

It was attended by students from Senior High Schools and tertiary educational institutions as well as young professionals between the ages of 18 and 40.

Mr Louis Nana Kwabena Asiedu, the Team Leader of the Foundation said the Summit was part of a number of programmes outlined to make the youth identify their capabilities and strengths.

“The objective for the summit was to mobilise young people from all backgrounds to empower them spiritually and academically with social orientation”, he said.

Dr Joyce Aryee, the Executive Director of the Salt and Light Ministries speaking on the topic, “Godly Objectives assure lasting success”, said the youth should develop the habit of doing what is right.

She emphasised that, it was not necessary for them to get accustomed to being directed or scolded every time just to do what was right.

She said the youth had developed a habit of blaming the elderly and past leaders of the country for contributing to the slow development of the country, which wasn’t necessary.



“Many youth are always waiting for people to do something for them. You can accuse us, we don’t mind but what you are also going to do to makes your Lives better,” she said.

Dr Aryee noted that, building the right character, integrity, faithfulness, hard work and humility are the qualities one needed to be successful in life.

“It will be difficult for someone who is not humble to work with others and be knowledgeable,” she said.

She urged the youth to read the Bible Verse, Psalm 15:3, to know the demands of God from Humans, adding that, most people that had been successful sustainably adhered to the principles and commandants of God.

Mrs Marietta Brew Appiah Oppong, the Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General advised the youth to have positive thoughts and know that they are capable of contributing to national development.

She said although there could be unfortunate developments when they tried to undertake developmental initiatives, they shouldn’t give up because believing in their success was the key to achieving their dreams.

Ms Josephine Nkrumah, the Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education speaking on the topic, “I pledge myself to the service of Ghana”, urged the youth to desist from speaking negatively about the country and develop the faith that Ghana could develop.

She said: “People say the youth are the future but I say the youth are now. The value you place on yourself today determines your life tomorrow”.

She recommended that the public read the constitution especially Article 41 which outlines the duties of a citizen in order to guide their actions.

Ms Nkrumah said: “Do not work only because you want salary, but also because you have a part to play in the development of the country”.

“You can’t serve if you don’t have a heart to serve because leadership means you are a chief servant. If you understand that, then half of your work to serve the nation is done”.
