Yinson Production provides 8-seater place of convenience, sporting kits for Kejibil schools

School children within the Kejibril cluster of schools would no longer run away from school with the excuse of responding to nature call as Yinson Production West Africa Limited has provided an eight-seater place of convenience to solve that need.

The lack of a place of convenience and washrooms for most schools especially in rural setting continues to be a major challenge to academic work of school pupil particularly the girl child who during that period of the month had to stay home because of the lack of such facilities in some schools.

Mrs. Beatrice Attafuah, the Head Mistress of Kejibril JHS during the commissioning and handing over of the facility and sporting kits to the schools was grateful to the company for responding to such an urgent need in the lives of the school children.

Mr. Mark Adobo Abetekey, the Ahanta West Municipal Director of Education in the Western Region said for a company such as Yinson to think outside their profit and make an impact in the lives of such vulnerable in society was a great achievement worth replicating.

He was grateful that the company had met both the sporting and sanitary needs of two circuit within the district and pleaded that the kind gesture was extended to the three remaining circuits within the Districts.

Mr. Abetekey said sport played a key role in the formation of interested individuals as its built their discipline, tolerance as well as their physique.

Architect Victor Mensah, the Municipal Works Engineer, who played a supervisory role in the construction of the facility alluded to the excellence of the project and called for proper maintenance to prolong its lifespan.

Mr. Edward Mensah, the Corporate Social Responsibility and Local Content manager of Yinson Production West Africa Limited said the company would continue to invest in Ghana’s Young generation through numerous social intervention projects.

He said building the facility was to enable the children have full concentration on studies adding, “We hope that the building of the facility will keep the children in school during school hours and help them to focus on their lessons”.

He said the Yinson Production West Africa also believed that sports was key and had positive effects on school children and their holistic development hence their provision of table tennis boards and accessories, netballs, volleyballs, jerseys and footballs to help shape their sports.

The Corporate Affairs Manager said maintaining a cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with leaders and people, contributing to development in their operational areas and empowering the indigenes through employment and training was high on the agenda of the company.

Yinson Production, the operators of the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) Floating Production Supply and Offloading unit was awarded the contract by ENI Ghana and its partners in January 2015.

The FPSO was currently supplying oil and gas from the OCTP block and would help supply power to Ghana for many years, contributing significantly to Ghana’s energy needs and economic growth, he added.
