Accra Hearts of Oak produced a big performance on Sunday afternoon to defeat Medeama 3-1 at the Tarkwa T&A Park in a friendly match to celebrate the Amankuma festival and interim captain Malik Akowuah has assured Phobians things will get better.

“Things will get better. The Hearts of Oak supporters who are not happy today because of recent decline will soon start smiling.” Akowuah said on Sunday.

“You can all see the changes in the team now. We are gradually picking up and I want to assure the fans they are going to see a stronger Hearts of Oak soon” the former Medeama midfield enforcer added.

Joseph Esso opened the scoring for the Phobians before Auroras product Selassie Bakai bagged a second-half brace as Kim Grant records his first big friendly win as Hearts of Oak head coach.

Justice Blay fetched the consolation goal for the home side five minutes from time.

Grant handed starts to new recruit Mohammed Alhassan – formerly of WAFA – and Auroras product Manaf Gumah as Benjamin Mensah started in goal.
