The Coffee Federation of Ghana (CFG) represented by its President, Chief Nathaniel Ebo Nsarko, and his first Vice-President, Mr Samuel Adimado, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with (Agence de cafes robustas d’Afrique et de Madagascar), ACRAM to speed up the development of Ghana’s coffee subsector.
The agreement, which was signed in Libreville, Gabon, on Thursday, 22 November 2018, at the 1st Ordinary General Assembly of ACRAM will enable the two organisations to cooperate and coordinate efforts and share expertise towards the management of coffee on the African continent.
ACRAM, by this document, has also committed to assisting CFG to secure funding for its activities.
ACRAM primarily promotes robusta coffee from Africa, helps in revenue improvement, livelihood enhancement of coffee farmers, research as well as the development of indigenous development concepts.
The CFG, a few months ago, launched a roadmap for Ghana’s diversification into coffee production at the first-ever Coffee Conference held in Accra.
Already, the government of Ghana has bought into CFG’s plan and has promised to support the federation with its model coffee farms concept and other aspects of the plan.
Mr Nsarko, who signed the agreement on behalf of the organization, said the agreement will help fast-track Ghana’s PERD plans to make tree crops, including coffee farming, lucrative for the various players in the coffee value chain.
