Aduana Stars fines Elvis Opoku GHC 3000

Aduana Stars have fined midfielder Elvis Opoku a sum of Three thousand Ghana cedis (GHC 3,000 )for his irresponsible comments made about the club on Nhyira FM last week.

He has also been asked to render an unqualified apology to the Management of the club, fans and teammates after pleading guilty to charges against him by the club.

The charge relates to comments made by the diminutive midfielder regarding the non-payment of wages and certainly failed promises by the club during the club’s campaign in the CAF Confederations cup and sacking of head coach Yusuf Abubakar.

It emerged last week that the club had failed to honour its promises made to the players after they won last year’s Ghana premier league.

In a recent interview, Elvis Opoku vented his spleen on the club’s management for not treating the players well, attributing their actions to the club’s poor show in the CAF Confederations Cup. This didn’t go down well with the management and this led to the club’s decision to summon the player to answer questions about his comments.

After meeting management and fans representatives of the club this week, they arrived at a decision that the player would use the same medium(Nhyira fm) to render an unqualified apology to the entire club hierarchy and fans of the club.

But earlier this week the player spoke with Dormaa fm, saying he is sorry for his comments.

“I am very sorry about my comments.I know it really didn’t go down well with the chief patron of the club, Nana Dormaahene, the management team and my teammates who were also disappointed in me and not forgetting the fans. I admit my flaws and I am therefore asking for forgiveness from everyone involved. I promise to give my best for this club from now on.”

“I know I have wronged the entire Aduana land, I am therefore using this medium to ask for forgiveness. I am still a son of the land. I apologize for my irresponsible statement.” He added.
