GT gets more customers in Ashanti

Kumasi, Oct 26, GNA- The Ashanti regional office of the Ghana Telecom (GT) has embarked on an outreach programme to attract more customers to its fixed-line telephone services in the Kumasi metropolis. The exercise dubbed "Customer Recruitment" is aimed at encouraging residents in areas where fixed telephone lines were available to acquire lines at the same day in their places of abode.

Speaking at one such programmes at Abusuakruwa near Suame on Tuesday, Mr Robert Baffour-Awuah, Head of Network Maintenance and Operations, said the exercise was aimed at reducing bureaucracy in installation of telephone lines to customers.

He said the company had targeted to sell about 4,000 lines to the public during the one-month exercise.

He said 40,000 fixed lines were currently available for sale to the public at areas including Abusuakruwa, Tarkwa-Maakro, New road Junction, Tafo Mile Four, Magazine, Tafo-Nhyiaeso, Subin and Yenyawoso. He said the exercise was the company's new approach to sell to customers excess capacities on its switches.
